2026 The Sovereign Gold Bullion Coin | 916.67 Fine Gold
2026 Gold Sovereign Bullion Coin
The 2026 Sovereign marks a return to the traditional yellow gold alloy, replacing the rose tone used in recent issues.
Struck in 22-carat gold, the coin continues a standard first introduced during the coinage reforms of Henry VIII in 1526, establishing the alloy still used for Sovereigns today.
The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic St George and the dragon, one of the most recognised designs in British coinage.
For 2026, the Sovereign also introduces enhanced security features, including:
• Micro-text engraving on the reverse
• A new half-tone surface pattern
• A latent image beneath the portrait of His Majesty King Charles III
These features make the 2026 Sovereign one of the most secure bullion issues produced to date, combining historic design with modern minting technology.
